Maine Driving Club

Our mission is to encourage and promote the sport of equine driving.  We offer training, education, and information to our members in the various phases of pleasure and competitive driving, as well as pleasure horse ownership.  We provide a forum for people interested in the sport of driving in the State of Maine to come together for social activities and to share ideas and information

The MDC welcomes all who have an interest in carriages or driving, regardless of age, skill level or the type of driving you do.   We have a full schedule of events; please check the calendar below for info and cancellations.

Beginner drivers or those who would just like to "ride along" are encouraged to join!

What’s NEW?

Maine Driving Club has a NEW Youth Group called the Maine Junior Driving Club! It is open statewide to juniors up to age 19.

Any participating juniors must be a member of Maine Driving Club, either through a family membership or an individual youth membership.  A youth membership is $10.00 and can be filled out at any of the meetings or events or downloaded and mailed in. Membership entitles you to all the benefits of the Maine Driving Club.  Participating members in the MDC youth group must also own/lease their own driving horse/pony.

There will be “unhitched” (non-driving) meetings at David and Mary Fowler’s farm Chrysalis Acres in Freeport. The “hitched” (driving) meetings will be held at the farm of Helen Holman in Litchfield.

The “hitched” meetings will be lessons with established instructors and will run monthly from May to October. The “unhitched” meetings will consist of informative lectures by guest speakers, quiz bowl, fundraising projects and planning of group trips.
